What is motion sickness?
Motion sickness is the result of a dissociation between sight, posture, and the inner ear: the eyes see the movement, the body is still, and the inner ear senses the movement. This is why this disorder is more common and intense in young animals, as their inner ear is not yet fully developed.
Motion sickness manifests as nausea and vomiting due to the movements of the transport used. The animal then begins to associate the vehicle with feeling ill and develops anxiety related to transportation. It may start barking, crying, and become agitated. Other animals, on the contrary, may become completely lethargic or may urinate and defecate. This state of nervousness exacerbates the symptoms already present.
