What is kidney failure?
The kidneys serve to detoxify the blood by filtering waste (toxins) produced by the body, maintaining the balance of water and electrolytes, producing hormones, regulating blood pressure and vitamin D, and helping in the creation of red blood cells.
Kidney disease can present in two forms: chronic kidney failure and acute kidney failure.
Chronic kidney failure is the result of a slow and insidious process that develops over months or even years.
